Renovations and additions to create a reborn 70,000SF facility. The library features 60’ clear span Vierendel Trusses and an underfloor wiring grid to provide complete flexibility of present and future planning – trusses project above the roof and serve as huge clerestories and lanterns at night. Elements include: an interior community square, a fully networked community information kiosk, a library, a gymnasium, food and beverage services, a pool, fitness facilities (including cardio and aerobic fitness, dancercise room, weight training and squash courts), a Seniors centre, youth & childcare rooms, a multi-purpose arts and crafts room, male and female change-rooms, an outdoor splash-pad, and community / tennis courts. This project involved consensus building of numerous stakeholders. (Winner of the Mississauga Urban Design Award)
